MOU.... This took so long to do. x.x The original image is on 18x24 paper, and it's done in maker... I'm never working that large in marker ever again. It took me something like four days straight to do and cost me $70-something in new/replacement markers.
Anyway, because I looked at it so long I ended up disliking it, but my teacher liked it a lot and told me to make it a portfolio piece. It was fun to work in marker again. I haven't done something of this magnitude in a long time. Nostalgia..~
This was a massive punch-in-the-face to MCAD; so many people here use markers WRONGLY (goddamn weaboo brats), and it ruins it for those of us who CAN use it correctly. And it makes me happy to know that I'm recognized in the eyes of my teacher for this kind of work. It's what I LIKE doing, but haven't been able to for classes because it's "not a professional medium". Pfh..
The assignment was to take a movement from Holst's "The Planets" and do an illustration however we want. Since I do things like this on my own, it was a breath of fresh air... Even though it was stressful in the end anyway. This is, as the title says, "Venus, The Bringer of Peace".
Now THIS, is what markers SHOULD look like. x____x I love your marker work so muuuch <333 I need to learn how to use mine better....Icky icky seam lines.
Mostly Copics (our school sells them), but also a lot of Prismacolour markers, and a few Tria markers. :3
My biggest tip to avoid seeing the marks is to work wet. Work in small areas at a time and make sure the paper is saturated by an undertone (I've never used blender markers for this, only light, solid colours).

I'll defenatly try that. What kind of pens do you use though? I use a 0.38 ballpoint, but Prisma ink seems to hate it and makes it smudge. And I love those pens so, because theyre cheap, and get me the same super thin and clean lines the professional ones do, and I can write school notes with em. Though the smudge doesnt seem to happen as bad when I let the pen dry for a few days.
I use Copic multiliners, or my new favourites, copic SP's (which are refillable). Those are made specifically to work with the alcohol in markers, so I never have to worry about smudge even if I put marker over the ink immediately. Plus the multiliners come in a variety of colours, which is awesome!

...I'll stare in awe some more b/c I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the fact you did that with markers. XD
I like the rocks; the one half-under the water is particularly impressive and the moss looks so soft and inviting!
That's just...hardcore. XD

Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad.
